ATIPCO marks its first participation at the FIT Statutory Congress in Geneva

From September 2 to 3, 2025, the city of Geneva brought together voices from the language profession for the Statutory Congress of the International Federation of Translators (FIT) — a key event for FIT member associations of translators and interpreters from around the world. A strategic gathering focused on governance, multilingual dialogue, and a forward-looking vision for our profession. This year, ATIPCO took part for the first time, proudly asserting its presence on the international stage.

Ms. Alexandra CARDYN, ATIPCO’s Ambassador

Ms. Alexandra CARDYN, Interim Secretary of ATIPCO, officially represented our association at this prestigious congress, held at the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva. Her presence underscored ATIPCO’s growing engagement in international affairs, and our commitment to actively contributing to the FIT’s strategic decisions and to the evolution of our profession.

A Packed Program with Major Stakes

This high-level congress addressed key topics of governance and long-term vision. Over two intensive days, representatives of member associations participated in multilingual discussions held in the three official languages (French, English, and Spanish), with professional interpretation provided throughout.

ATIPCO, a Player in the Global Dialogue

Beyond the official votes and debates, ATIPCO’s participation highlights our ambition to be a proactive contributor to the global dialogue among language professionals. It was a unique opportunity to build relationships, exchange ideas, and raise our association’s profile with international bodies and peers from across the globe.

What’s Next?

Building on this international momentum, ATIPCO is actively preparing its contribution to International Translation Day 2025 (ITD2025). A public awareness campaign will soon be launched to highlight the value of our professions and to engage the language community around the key issues shaping our field today.
